Our main focus in the past year has been on building community, engaging key stakeholders in public awareness and educational support through stress kit events. We focused deeper on strengthening partnerships with our unions, support facilities, and communities which not only support our cause but the hard-working healthcare workers on the front lines. We expanded our program by offering strategies and classes on how to mitigate the impact of burnout. As you know, burnout is characterized by emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and a reduced sense of personal accomplishment.
All physicians, nurses and especially surgeons, are at risk for developing burnout. We believe that the best strategies for mitigating burnout are to try meditation, yoga, or other mindfulness practices for improved relaxation, so we brought a few programs free of charge to healthcare workers across Alberta on our platform.
We believe that individual commitment to self-care in conjunction with support from within healthcare organizations creates the optimal framework in which burnout can be mitigated.
